West Tiger Peaks Loop 2015-01-07

9.37 miles and 3,014 feet of elevation gain.

This was a four summit loop hike from WTA (http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/west-tiger-four-summit-loop) but we skipped the trip over to Poo Poo Point.   We did the loop in a counterclockwise direction.  The lowland fog and a Wednesday hike resulted in very little traffic on the trail from West Tiger #3 back to the trailhead.  This can be a very busy trail on a sunny weekend.

Blue is ready to go.

Break time at the Hike's Hut on West Tiger #1

Everybody wants a piece of banana bread.

Zoom shot of Mt Rainier.

The lowlands where covered in fog.

Paw Print Rest Stop 2013-12-05

9.62 miles and 2,132 feet of elevation gain.  Seems the GPS lost signal again, the track crosses I-90 and I don't remember climbing the fence and dodging cars on I-90.  The distance is probably closer to 9 miles.

A get out and get some exercise hike.

Some great frost on the trail

The road to trail is changing back to road the last quarter mile to Paw Print Rest Stop.  Not too far from here there are boundary signs for a timber sale.

Paw Print Rest Stop 2013-08-10

Another Tiger Mountain hike, 8.4 miles, 1,939 feet of elevation gain.  It was sunny when we started and I left the sun roof a little to keep the car cool, then it started to ran on the way back so the moving average was 3 mph.

I first went to Paw Print Rest Stop when it looked new several years ago.  It was designed as an area to unload horses, it had a corral and a nice toilet.  Over the years I never saw any evidence of any horse ever being at the "rest stop".  They have reclaimed the old road, that is the last leg to the rest stop, and it appears they may be getting ready to log the area.

The new road

Paw Print Rest Stop, all the horse stuff is gone.

West Tiger #1 2013-07-26

Did it again, a nice quick way to get some exercise.

Not much for local view, everything is in haze.

But Mt Rainier was above the haze.

Poo Poo Point 2013-07-07

Parked at the High School trail head just of off the Issaquah-Hobart road.  One of our party turned around and went back to the car so we were able to straight through and got picked up at the Chirico trail head.
